Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is looking to bring back the powers to require people entering Ireland from overseas to quarantine.
However, he says there are no plans to add any country to the hotel quarantine list for the moment.
Minister Donnelly says it's a precaution needed as they work out the potential risk of the Omicron variant:
