The garda press office has confirmed that a controlled explosion on a hand grenade was carried out early this morning in Rathnew
The grenade was found in a field yesterday evening. The Army bomb disposal team carried out the controlled explosion at 7 o’clock this morning and deemed the area safe. it's not known if the grenade was historical or a more recently produced device.
