Construction is set to start in the next few months on almost 600 public housing units in South County Dublin.
Shanganagh in Dún Laoghaire is the country's largest social and affordable housing scheme with planning permission.
More than €17 million has been approved in funding for the development by the State.
It's anticipated the units will be let for around 1,200 euro per month for a two-bed property.
