Bray teenager Kyle O’Connor has had his bail revoked after allegedly breaching multiple conditions while awaiting trial over the death of Willie Moorehouse.
A teenager from Bray, Co. Wicklow, has had his bail revoked after allegedly breaching multiple conditions while awaiting trial in connection with the death of a local man earlier this year.
Eighteen-year-old Kyle O’Connor, from Ballywaltrim Heights, appeared before Wicklow Circuit Court over the alleged breaches of his bail conditions. O’Connor had been released on bail pending trial for charges of violent disorder and producing an article, both linked to the death of William “Willie” Moorehouse. Moorehouse, a father-of-six, was tragically found dead in a playground in Bray on January 19th.
At the hearing, Detective Garda Ger Brennan told the court that O’Connor was arrested in Wicklow town on the evening of October 18th. This was after his court-imposed curfew, and he was reportedly intoxicated at the time. Gardaí say O’Connor was identified near the scene of the incident.
The court also heard that O’Connor was required to reside in Coolock and to sign in at his local garda station three times a week. Since his last appearance at Bray District Court in September, he had reportedly signed in only six times, falling far short of the requirement.
Defence counsel, Edmund Sweetman BL, instructed by Joe Maguire of Maguire McNiece Solicitors, informed the court that O’Connor had undergone a psychiatric assessment. A report submitted stated that he is not currently fit to enter a plea.
Following the submissions, Judge Patrick Quinn revoked O’Connor’s bail and remanded him in custody. He is due to appear again for mention at Wicklow Circuit Court on November 11th.
O’Connor is one of several people charged in connection with Moorehouse’s death. Other co-accused are also scheduled to appear in Wicklow Circuit Court next month. One individual, Patrick Fitzpatrick, aged 32, faces a murder charge and is due to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.
The case has drawn significant attention locally, given the tragic circumstances of Moorehouse’s death, which has left the community in Bray mourning the loss of a father-of-six.
