Bray Boxing Club Murder Trial Enters Legal Arguments For Two Weeks

The trial of a 34 year old man accused of carrying out a fatal gun attack at Bray boxing club three years ago in which one man died, heard yesterday  from several witnesses who encountered a van believed to have been used by the suspect to escape from the scene following the shooting.

34 year old Gerard Cervi, from East Wall in Dublin, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 50 year old Bobby Messett and two charges of attempted murder on the 5th of June in 2018.

A bus driver told the jury that the grey or silver van nearly collided with his bus and when he reached the traffic lights at Fran O’Toole bridge on Bray main street, the vehicle was on the wrong side of the road at Castle street, travelling very fast.

The jury was told by Mister justice Michael White that legal arguments, which take place without the jury’s presence, have to be dealt with, which will take until at least the 28th of this month to complete.

The trial won’t resume until after these issues are addressed.
