Wicklow’s World Champion boxer Katie Taylor has become the first boxer ever to retain the Boxing writers Association of America’s female fighter of the year award.
The undisputed lightweight world champion was also tops the Association’s pound for pound ranking list to take the Christy Martin trophy.
Only three fighters have retained the men’s award two years on the trot.
According to the Herald Newspaper, Katie says she expects to be back in the ring in Spring of next year.
