The Riders is an upcoming movie adaptation of a novel by Australian author Tim Winton. Brad Pitt stars while Edward Berger is directing.
Brad Pitt's latest movie project called The Riders is due to begin filming in County Wicklow over the next two weeks before shooting takes in other parts of Ireland as well as across Europe, most notably in Greece.
Directed by Edward Berger and based on Australian author Tim Winton’s 1994 novel, the family mystery will also star American actress Julianne Nicholson .
Scenes will be shot around stunning Lough Tay, which along with Glendalough, is one of the most photographed location in Wicklow.
The stunning scenery of the Lake surrounded by the mountains makes it one of the most iconic location in Ireland.
Produced by the venerable Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and A24 studios, the film sees Pitt maitain an actor-director collaboration which was announced last year.
Lough Tay, (a. k. a. the Guinness lake to some) will provide a glorious backdrop and has built up a burgeoning location of repute for location operatives and productions such as The Vikings in recent years.
The Garden County beauty spot will set the scene for the family mystery, which also features Emmy-nominee Julianne Nicholson (of Paradise, Boardwalk Empire fame) and newcomer Coco Greenstone (known for Windcatcher).
According to reports, the 62-year-old veteran star is set to stay in Dalkey, with filming also slated for Dublin, Cork and Kerry if reports are accurate.

Originally published in 1994, The Riders follows the harrowing journey of Australian man Fred Scully.
As Scully awaits the arrival of his wife and daughter at Shannon Airport, only his daughter disembarks, traumatised and unable to explain her mother’s absence.
This unexpected turn propels Scully and his daughter on a desperate quest across Europe to uncover the truth behind his wife’s disappearance.
