
Paul ‘Frank’ Byrne’s remains were discovered in wooded area in Co. Wicklow in 2010
Gardaí in Blessington have renewed their appeal for information over the death of a 20-year-old man who was last seen 16 years ago today.
Paul 'Frank' Byrne was last seen at Kilmartin Green in Tallaght on July 15, 2009.
The remains of the 20-year-old were later discovered in a wooded area by a forestry worker near Blessington, Co Wicklow on the July 29, 2010.
On the day he was last seen, it was reported that Paul left Kilmartin Green in a 2000 registered wine-coloured Mitsubishi Carisma accompanied by a number of other men.
His mother reported him missing at Tallaght Garda Station the following day.
Five people have been arrested in connection with the investigation into Mr Byrne's murder but to date, no one has been brought to justice.
Blessington Gardaí have now urged anyone with any information on the 16th anniversary of Paul's disappearance. They say his family are anxious for the investigation to progress to bring them some closure.
A Garda spokesperson said:
"Gardaí are appealing to those who may have information since 2009, or who may have come into possession of information in the intervening years, to come forward. Gardaí are urging individuals, who sixteen years on may want to come forward to do so, especially if relationships or associations have changed over the years.
"With the passage of time, people may now feel more comfortable sharing information with Gardaí. Gardaí would like to assure the public that they will treat anyone assisting the investigation in a sensitive manner."
