Aircoach is to submit an application to the National Transport Authority to increase the Greystones to Dublin Airport route to an hourly service.

The move follows months of campaigning by Wicklow Minister Simon Harris, who said in September he was working closely with the NTA on a new proposal for an hourly Aircoach service from Greystones. Currently, the Aircoach runs only every two hours.

The Minister has now confirmed that Aircoach is going to submit an application within weeks for an increased service from Greystones to Dublin Airport.The Aircoach service from Greystones to Dublin Airport has been inadequate in recent months. The issue was raised as far back as April at the monthly meetings of Greystones Municipal District, when Cllr Derek Mitchell tabled a motion to contact Aircoach over the frequency and duration of the service.Minister Harris said he has engaged with Aircoach representatives seeking for the services to Dublin Airport to be at least doubled.“I’m delighted that Aircoach are taking a hands-on approach and are planning to double the service currently available for people travelling from and in between Greystones to Dublin Airport. I have spoken to many residents across Wicklow who have dealt with a service far too sporadic, inflexible and at times over prescribed.“For months, I have been engaging with representatives of Aircoach urging them to consider an increase in service that would benefit the increasing population of Wicklow and the increased demand for public transport services.“I very much welcome that an Aircoach representative confirmed to me they plan to submit an application to increase the frequency of service between Greystones and Dublin Airport to an hourly service, however this will not include the middle of the night.“In due course, when the application is officially submitted by Aircoach to the National Transport Authority (NTA), I will write to the NTA to voice my full support for this application.”
