70% Of 322 Possible Housing Units On Public Land In Greystones And Kilcoole Won't Be Sold To Private Developers

The motion was withdrawn from the agenda of yesterday’s council meeting.

The proposal was expected to face strong opposition from some elected representatives, including Independent Councillor Joe Behan, who wants the council to retain the lands to provide for social and affordable housing for people in Wicklow.

Greystones Councillor Derek Mitchell says there are outstanding loans on both sites and proper research was carried out before the proposals were being put forward particularly in relation to the Greystones site.
