Surgical mesh damage can be measured in simple lab experiments

The Morning Show

Thursday, 19 September 2019 - 14 minutes

One of the many members of mesh survivors Ireland, shared the story of a woman from The Netherlands.
The post read - ‘A woman with two plastic 'mesh' mats will get euthanasia this week. She suffers unbearable pain from the polypropylene mats, she says, and that will not improve anymore.

On The Morning Show, Declan has spoken to Women in Wicklow and all over Ireland about the complications they are facing after surgeries using mesh. Declan has also spoken to men, who have had complications following hernia operations.
Now, New research from bioengineers in Trinity College Dublin suggests it is easy, via a simple lab experiment, to simulate the damage caused by using surgical mesh in different medical procedures.

Such experiments should have been conducted before surgical mesh was used to operate on people – many of whom are now living with serious, debilitating consequences.
