We have spoken to Les Martin from Wicklow Town a number of times about extending the newborn screening test from 8 to 40 conditions like they do in Italy.

Les has two sons nicknamed 'Cogs and Kiwi' who have a rare genetic condition called MLD.

Senator David Norris is due to bring the legislation before the senate in the coming weeks.
