Funding Allocated To Communities In Wicklow Through Community Enhancement Programme

Over €350,000 has been provided to communities in rural and urban areas in Wicklow through the Community Enhancement Programme, supporting 75 projects.

2,100 initiatives are to receive money under the department's community enhancement programme nationwide.

They include day care centres, youth cafes and community centres in disadvantaged areas.

Work to be funded locally include Roundwood, Arklow and Blessington Tidy Towns, Computer courses at Rathnew Community Centre Baltinglass Mens Shed and security for club premises at Eire Og Ladies.

Meanwhile seven community funding Schemes administered by Wicklow County Council delivered in excess of €1.6m to 137 individual projects in 2018.
The CLAR programme delivered €175,000 to 12 projects, while the Town and Village programme provided funding of €525,000 to seven projects.
The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme provided a further €438,000 to seven projects and the Healthy Ireland Initiative assisted 14 projects with funding of €112,100.
The New Community Enhancement programme delivered €350,530 to 91 groups while a Festival Funding programme assisted six festivals in the county.
