The contract is worth in excess of €800 million, over 5 years includes delivery of services for 218 routes nationally with excess of 220 million customer journeys to be provided over the course of the contract
The announement comes after the NTA made a prior commitment to improve the Bus Éireann 133 route through Wicklow
The service from Wicklow was among a number of the most complained about, according to figures released by the NTA earlier this year.
Serious concerns had been raised about the future of the route, amid claims that it was on a list of around 10% of routes that would be privatised.
However it will remain within the Direct Award Contract between the NTA and Bus Éireann until 2021 at which stage the service will be competitively tendered.
Wicklow TD John Brady says he also secured a commitment that a separate stand alone service between Bray and Wicklow Town will be considered by the NTA.
